Quick Thoughts on the Passing of Kobe Bryant

Updated: Jan 27, 2020

Growing up as kids, we all have our heroes. Athletes make us believe that we can achieve the impossible. We can do anything we set our minds to, and we can be whatever we want to be.

Kobe Bryant made us feel that way. Inside all of us, we had that Mamba Mentality.

Whenever we threw something away or rolled up a ball of paper, there’s a reason why we yelled out “Kobe”.

He defined a generation. It’s hard to talk about his death. It’s hard to talk about how much he will be missed. It’s hard to talk about how the game of basketball will no longer be the same after his passing.

His impact on his family. His impact on the next generation of Superstars in the League. His impact on the city of Los Angeles. His impact on the game of basketball.

When you think about the icons of a sport, you think about 3 people: Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant.

One of the most inspirational athletes of all time is no longer with us. His dedication and drive can be translated to any part of life, not just the game of basketball.

It’s not just about the 5 rings. Or the 20 years of dominance for the Los Angeles Lakers. Or the 81 points. It’s about how many lives he touched.

And I know that’s cliche. Because at the end of the day we all still move on aside from sports.

But Kobe Bryant is one of the rare cases where he was bigger than basketball.

People picked up the sport because of Kobe Bryant. People went and played the game of basketball because they wanted to be like Kobe Bryant. We all wanted to be like Kobe Bryant.

We can never forget how precious life is. How those who are special to you can be gone in a matter of seconds. For his family. For his kids. For his teammates, coaches, wife and fans. Never let them forget how deeply you love them.

Rest in Peace to Kobe Bean Bryant. One of the best scorers of our generation. One of the best leaders of our generation. One of the best Basketball Players of Our Generation. One of the Best People of Our Generation.
